Osentia: A fracture risk assessment for bone health, fragility fracture, and osteoporosis

Osentia is the first home (or in-clinic) test kit to indicate bone fragility/fracture risk by the analysis of a nail clipping (fingers or toes) using leading - edge laser technology to examine the nail's protein structure.

  • Bone health begins to decline at the age of 30.
  • Bones become more brittle, less resilient and more likely to break over time.
  • Half of women and one third of men will experience a low-impact bone fracture over 50, amounting to over 300,000 hospital admissions a year, with almost a quarter fracturing again within 12 months.
  • Osteoporosis is hereditary and accelerates at the menopause or after exposure to certain medications.
  • Early intervention reduces risk.
  • Early detection can be done simply, accurately and quickly from home or clinic.
  • Personalised results delivered within one week in easy-to-understand format.
  • Information is power - enabling the user to make appropriate lifestyle and nutrition choices.
Osentia test

How it works

Osentia requires a fingernail or toenail clipping to be sent for laboratory analysis.

Complete a test order form which includes questions about your health, well-being and lifestyle.

The test will accurately provide your personal risk of a fragility fracture. Results will be returned to you via email or post within seven days.

The test is based on measuring the proteins in the nail as a marker of the integrity of structural proteins in the body.

Step 1
Step 1

Insert a clean and dry fingernail or toenail clipping into the resealable bag.

Step 2
Step 2

Place the coded label (found on the top right-hand corner of the test order form) on the resealable bag.

Step 3
Step 3

Seal the bag, place it inside the pre-paid return envelope and post it back to our laboratory.
